Looking For New Router Bits For Your Workshop

As every wood worker knows you can spend many years as well as a large fortune collecting woodworking tools. But there are a couple of essential tools for a home workshop. There are three basic tools that every do-it-yourself woodworking shop should have. The first is a good table saw they can be used for ripping and cutting dadoes. The next tool is a bandsaw although many things that can be made with a bandsaw can also be accomplished with a jigsaw I believe the bandsaw is an absolute. Lastly finally every wood shop needs to have at least one router.

Table saws have three basic configurations a contractors style table saw, a hybrid Delta table saw and a cabinet style Delta table saw. The contractors style is usually the least expensive and is built to fold up and be stowed in the back of a truck, this makes it a great choice for the do-it-yourselfer who has a small space. A cabinet style Delta table saw is usually larger and comes with a 3 hp motor on it and utilizes a 10 or 12 blade. These are designed to be used in one place so you need to have a good spot for it. They are usually bigger than the other styles of table saws and are built to last for decades. A hybrid table saw falls between the others it is usually a lighter duty unit like that of the contractors Delta table saw but built into a conventional cabinet these are a great choice for the homeowner who has to live with in his budget.

Routers are an extremely versatile tool that all woodworkers need. Today router bits can be found in a virtually unlimited number of different configuration. Whether you just need to chamfer a corner or you are building raised panel doors a woodworking router is indispensable. Router bits come in with three shank sizes quarter inch, 3/8″ and 1/2″ most router bits available today are anti kickback.

A band saw lets the woodworker to cut tight curves and circles and also lets the woodworker to re-saw their stock. Yes you can cut intricate curves with a jigsaw but the band saw will let you to do this much faster and with greater safety. Band saws come in a bench top design or a floor model. Bench top styles usually have a smaller throat clearance, usually in the range of 8 inches while floor models usually start out at about 12 inches and go up from there most of your larger commercial band saws have a least a 20 inch throat.
